Standard Deviants (Comedic) Educational Scriptwriting

If it all just looks silly and fun, then it’s working. But, look closer. Engaging struggling students in conventional educational topics takes some serious instructional and linguistic expertise. As the lead writer for the award-winning Standard Deviants educational video brand, I focused on breaking down complex topics into bite-size pieces and using clear, down-to-earth language as well as the occasional metaphor to help students relate to new concepts. I also used humor (and some absurdity) to lighten the mood and grab attention and made sure to make the empathetic gesture of hanging lanterns on tricky moments.
