Creative ads & campaigns
Creative ad campaigns, whether social, out-of-home, or multi-channel, are some of my favorite spaces to play in. Whether it’s planning a campaign from concept to completion, or stepping in at a crucial point in the process, I strive for work that meets the moment and nails the context, and copy that immediately grabs, meaningfully sticks, and is coherent, smart, and, often, funny.
My approach is highly collaborative. I believe that getting a holistic grasp of a project and engaging in open communication with creative partners and stakeholders leads to the best work. I especially see copy and design as functioning together to form a cohesive whole and have done much of my best work when collaborating closely with designers.
Connective, customer-first copy
I believe that when you accurately connect, you naturally persuade. From emails to headlines to full landing pages, I create copy that functions at the intersection of brand and product, narrative and analytics, never sacrificing one for the other, but rather thoughtfully and strategically balancing the two within and across customer touch-points.
Mentorship, writing guidance, project leadership
I see writing as inherently collaborative and love to engage in the act of creative midwifery with junior writers, shepherding a project through from ideation to completion. I help people bring out their best work by guiding them to see the big picture context, identifying opportunities to push the creative, and giving them permission to uncover the strengths of their own natural voice. I am also one hell of a shrewd editor.
Multimedia
I got my start professionally as a scriptwriter and graphics planner for educational films, and have never shaken off that tendency to write scripts with all modalities in mind. From explainer videos to YouTube to radio ads, I go beyond scriptwriting alone to consider the project holistically, taking genre into consideration and writing via imagery and words simultaneously. I love the collaboration inherent to multimedia work—syncing up with the film nerds (positive connotation only) in the house have been the times where I’ve felt most at home at work.
Welcome to my professional writing life, going 15 years strong. With an MFA in Creative Writing and five years as a writing consultant also in the mix, I’m the type of copywriter that’s coming to the table with a shrewd eye for detail and the questions that drive expansion. Thoughtful, creative, and collaborative are my keywords.
In the corporate sector, I have worked extensively in the higher education space, as well as in lifestyle and multi-cultural luxury goods. My number one strength aside from being a master of language and voice is my ability to learn and adapt into different spaces, so try me! I am especially interested to work with brands that promote learning, creativity, culture, sustainability, and care. I can be of service wherever there are words, however I have named some of my favorite areas to work in below. Based in the Bay Area, CA, I am open to working in a freelance or full-time capacity, on-site or remote.
